Free Star Wars and Jim Lehrer Events: May 4
Two free (different) events for Star Wars fans or to see news anchor Jim Lehrer discuss his novel set on the Santa Fe Railroad.
Well, this is probably the only time you’ll ever see Jim Lehrer mentioned in the same place as Star Wars…. or maybe you know different?
These two free events at local independent bookstores look great, and they’re both happening on Tueday May 4, 2010.
Celebrate Star Wars with May the Fourth Be With You (ouch!) at Page One Bookstore on May 4 from 3 to 7 pm. The Star Wars fest includes themed goodies, a costume contest, and an art contest. They’ve listed this under the kids’ events, as well as on the home page, although it doesn’t SAY it’s for kids only – and geeks of all ages can save with 20% off Star Wars stuff all day!
Page One is at 11018 Montgomery NE.
Jim Lehrer appears at Bookworks on May 4 at 7 pm, to talk about and sign his new novel Super. Lehrer is news anchor for PBS News Hour, moderator of presidential debates, and this is his twentieth novel – erm, do some people ever SLEEP? Super is set on the Santa Fe Railroad’s Super Chief train, in the tradition of Murder on the Orient Express, although apparently some of the story is based on true events. A Booklist review said “Lehrer is a national treasure, and Super is, well . . . super.”
Bookworks is at 4022 Rio Grande Blvd NW.
