Teens aged 15-17 can join a free after school arts program, and families create art together on Saturdays.

I think this is super-cool, and if you’ve got an arty teenager in the family, maybe they will too!

The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History free after school arts program for teens aged 15-17 starts in October 2011, and runs every Tuesday afternoon from 3 – 5:30 pm through April 2012.

The program is called Lead with the Arts, and includes studio projects, meeting local artists, visits to art venues, and, of course, meeting other teens who also want to explore art.  Lead with the Arts is free, but the teen has to complete an application and return it by September 30, 2011.  Here’s the online Albuquerque Museum Lead with the Arts application – it’s for those aged 15 to 17 by October 2011.

For everyone else, the Albuquerque Museum family art workshops on Saturdays from 1 – 2.30 pm are open to all museum visitors and included in museum admission.  Supplies are provided, and budding artists of any age can show up to create art inspired by the Museum’s exhibits.

The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History is located at the corner of Mountain Road and 19th Street, in Albuquerque Old Town.
