Fish Without A License: September 28
According to the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, there are only two dates in 2013 when it’s legal to fish without a license in the state of New Mexico. I already told you about the first one earlier this summer and the second date is coming right up!
On Saturday September 28, 2013, anyone may fish without a license in New Mexico. This gives newbies a chance to try out the sport of fishing without having to buy a license. The perfect place to go fishing in Albuquerque is at Tingley Beach, so there might be quite a few people gathering for the Tingley Beach Fish Without a License day. The Tingley Beach ponds will be open so you can fish without a license for free from dawn to dusk on September 28. That’s from 7 am until 7 pm.
This is all part of National Hunting and Fishing Day. The Tingley Beach free fishing might be a bit of a party and it should be fun for kids who want to try out their skills! You could go crazy and take a picnic too, or just have a leisurely hike around the ponds. Note that all other fishing rules and regs still apply even on the days when you can fish without a license.
Tingley Beach is always so peaceful. You’re just a stone’s throw away from the city buzz, but out there by the ponds it’s very tranquil. I don’t know if they will have the model boats sailing around too on Saturday (it could be too much congestion!) but I find those delightful to watch. And I always love the statue of Clyde and Carrie Tingley at Tingley Beach – one of the most touching and cheer-inspiring statues in Albuquerque, in my opinion.
Tingley Beach is part of the Albuquerque BioPark at 1800 Tingley Drive SW.
