The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum runs a weekly free Stories in the Sky program, and they’ve recently extended it, which is great to hear, as it’s a terrific freebie for parents and kids to enjoy the museum.

The Balloon Museum Stories in the Sky program takes place every Wednesday morning for kids aged 6 months to 6 years. After we mentioned this program in January, the museum said they had such a surge in attendance, they’re expanding the program by adding a new session. So the times are now from 9:30 to 10:15 am for the first session, and from 11 to 11:45 am for the second.

Admission to the museum is free for both children and accompanying adults, and the fun for kids includes stories, songs, art, movement, and whatever else they might creatively think up, led by Curator of Education and storyteller, Laurie Magovern. You can hang out afterward to enjoy the whole museum — on the house!  That’s great for homeschoolers.

On five dates this summer 2012, they’ll also hold an evening program of Stories in the Night Sky, with evening stories, entertainment, and a free concert by Albuquerque Concert Band.

The regular morning Stories in the Sky is free every Wednesday, except during Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta when the museum charges admission. In any case, it’s best to check what’s going on entertainment-wise during Balloon Fiesta, as we all know the fiesta brings its own special fun.

Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is located at 9201 Balloon Museum NE.
