It’s spring, and a young man’s fancy turns lightly to thoughts of home improvement.  Hence, the spate of home and garden shows at this time of year. And, frankly, we love them all!

The Albuquerque Home and Garden Show on April 16 to 17 is home (ha ha!) to over 250 exhibitors showing off services and products for living la vida Nueva Méxicana, plus they’ll have a bunch of giveaway prize packages, and gardening seminars and workshops.

The theme for 2011 is Growing the Outdoor Classroom, so they have quite a lot geared toward kids. Events include:

  • Miracle of the Moringa Tree at 11 am – storytelling for children (with props, they say!) and release of the new children’s book .
  • Children and families plant a container garden (12 noon)
  • Gardening as Therapy workshops for children, senior citizens, and individuals with special needs
  • And more…

Regular admission is $7 for adults, but of course, we don’t plan to pay full price to get in to this extravaganza — and neither should you.

That’s why we found this $2 off admission coupon at the AHGS website. Use the coupon for $2 off each of 2 adult admissions, taking your cost to $5 per adult (age 13 and over).

It’s free admission for kids aged 12 and under, and note that the coupon is not valid on the senior admission price of $5

The Albuquerque Home and Garden Show 2011 at  EXPO New Mexico will be held:

  • Saturday, April 16, from 10 am – 6 pm
  • Sunday, April 17, from 10 am – 5 pm

The location is EXPO New Mexico,  at the Manuel  Lujan Building. Enter from the San Pedro side, and expect to pay $4 for parking.
