It’s National Can-It-Forward Day on August 13. Before you get too excited on this illustrious occasion, I can’t find any Albuquerque canning celebrations to share (unless you know different?). But if you’re thinking of trying it out this harvest season, there are free how-to-can guides and free recipes, including printable canning guides and video canning tutorials at the Ball canning website.  I’m not going to say “Yes, we can” but someone should have used that slogan for the national day.

UPDATE: Thanks to reader Lee Ann for adding some canning advice (see comments below). Lee Ann says that many canning recipes require adjustments for New Mexico’s higher altitudes. You can find adjusted recipes and canning tips at NMSU’s website.

Thanks to Julie at Kansas City on the Cheap for the Arby’s tip.
