Free Science Cafe for adults at Los Poblanos Inn and Cultural Center, on the Fukushima crisis. Register in advance!

New Mexico PBS is hosting a free Science Café  event and discussion at 10 am on Saturday
March 31 exploring the Fukushima disaster in Japan.

Obviously this is not the cheeriest subject, but the Science Cafe will explore how science and technology play their part when dealing with disasters and nature’s force.

They’ll show a PBS video clip on Fukushima, and Jesse Phillips, Nuclear Engineer at the Sandia National Laboratories Severe Accident Analysis Department, leads the discussion. Phillips will also share insight on how Japanese regulators used MELCOR software to help get a fix on what was going on inside the nuclear reactor.
