Sincere thanks, Tania, for the tip!

New Mexico is no stranger to world-class writers. We’ve certainly had our share. Now, here’s your chance to hear yet another legendary writer when Annie Proulx speaks at UNM!

Saturday, June 20 (2009), 6:00pm, Proulx will present “Coming Out of the Mountains,” a lecture about life and writing. She’ll be speaking in the west wing of Zimmerman Library (one of our fave places in ABQ, BTW.)

In case you don’t recognize the lady by name, you may know one of her short stories. It’s called Brokeback Mountain. But that’s just a “little” story compared to her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Shipping News.

This talk is free and open to the public, which is sort of code-talk for “sure to be crowded and impossible to find parking.” Therefore, we recommend arriving early. Like, real early. Take bread to feed the ducks at the Duck Pond. And check here for UNM parking info.
