I love seeing all the vintage signs around Albuquerque, especially on historic Route 66 of course. So if you’re a roadside advertising sign nerd like me, this sounds like a fun free event, on June 30 at 516 ARTS.

The 100 Years of Albuquerque Signs panel discussion takes place on Saturday June 30, 2012, at 4 pm, with those-in-the-know discussing the artistry and importance of Albuquerque’s roadside advertising signs, and the part they’ve played in establishing the unique character of the town. (They don’t say unique, but I do, and I stand by it . Well, it’s a bit hot right now, so maybe I’ll sit by it. More relaxing.)

An eclectic array of speakers includes historians, creative types, business owners and even sushi chef and “sign connoisseur” Ben Adams.

The event is free, and while you’re at 516 ARTS you can check out the current Time Pieces exhibition and the Friends of the Orphan Signs exhibition.
