Margarita and A Movie: May 9

Gotham City comes to the Duke City with Margarita and A Movie in May. Enjoy cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres, and a mingle in the NM Museum of Natural History and Science, before watching a movie.

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science series of  Margarita and a Movie night continues with a screening of The Dark Knight on Wednesday May 9.  (Hmm, these movies usually happen on a Thursday, so don’t be caught out by the date change.) The gathering starts at 6 pm.

The 2008 Batman v. The Joker movie stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Heath Ledger (sad, sad, sad) as an extremely creepy Joker. Ledger was posthumously awarded an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role. The stellar cast also includes Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman.

The evening includes a cocktail or other beverage, hors d’oeuvres from The Cooperage or Scarpas Brick Oven Pizza, time to bat/joke around the museum in a heroic/menacing manner during cocktail hour, then down to the DynaTheater to watch the movie on the huge screen.

The Margarita and A Movie evening costs $25 per person. It’s not exactly bargain basement cheap, but it’s pretty good value in my opinion for a movie, cocktail and appetizers in such a great setting.

Margarita and A Movie tickets are available online in advance and seats are limited – they’ve sold out on at least one of the previous events, so it’s probably best to book soon.  There is a $1.87 per ticket service charge.  You can also purchase tickets in advance at the museum to save online charges, and they usually sell tickets on the door on the day if any remain by then.
