Bike Tours: Holiday Lights and Luminaria
Albuquerque bike tours for the holiday season at a price that makes cyling Santa happy.
The creative folk over at Routes Rentals & Tours are offering two holiday bike tours to put the sparkle into cycling this Christmas, on December 23 and 24 only. The tours take you for a spin to enjoy some of the best of Albuquerque holiday lights around Old Town or the Bugg Lights Christmas Display, and both include a free hot drink of cocoa or teas and a free commemorative holiday ornament. Either take your own bike – which makes the tour cheaper at $7 – or they’ll provide a bike, including a helmet and bicycle lights.
Routes Rentals & Tours ticket prices are $7 if you take your own bike, and $15 including bike rental.
Spaces are limited, and one tour time has already sold out, so book fast! Here are the options:
- Tour of Bugg Lights Christmas Display at Menaul School, and other neighborhood Christmas lights, on December 23, starting at either 5:30 pm or 7 pm. Obviously you walk around the Bugg Lights display once you’ve cycled there, or you’ll be crashing into decorations and terrifying small children (a real downer on the tidings of comfort and joy).
- Tour of Old Town luminaria and Country Club area lights on Christmas Eve, December 24, with tours starting at either 5:30 pm, 7 pm, or 8:30 pm.
I think this sounds like a fun way to freewheel through the festive season, and even though they say these are pretty relaxed rides, you’ll get a little exercise too, in advance of the holiday feasting!
If you take your own bike, you must have front and rear bike lights (or rent them for $5 a pair.)
