I’ve heard of ballroom dancing and flamenco dancing, but blues dancing? Who knew?

Get in at the beginning of this hot new trend by taking the blues dance workshop offered by Duke City Blues. This 3-day workshop will offer a combination of dance classes, discussion and late-night dances to live blues bands and DJs.

The workshop starts on Friday, February 6th with a “taster class” to whet your blues dancing appetite. It continues with a dance until 4:00am (yes, that’s four-in-the-morning). On Saturday, you’ll learn how to take your blues dancing to the next level with classes on blues breathing, lindy blues, blues posturing, tango blues and more. Sunday includes more of the same. Both the Saturday and Sunday sessions include an optional lunch (or brown bag it) and a Q&A discussion with noted blues dance instructors Chris Ransdell, Anna Whitmire and Morgan Petroski.

Register by February 5th and save some serious coin. There are three tiers of participation, and you can save on each one:

1. Buy an event pass for $75 (a $15 savings). Includes all events over the three days.

2. Buy a dance pass for $30 (a $10 savings). Includes admission to the dances only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

3. Buy a Saturday dance pass for $15 (a $5 savings). Includes admission to the Saturday dance only.

4. Optional: If you wish to purchase the Saturday/Sunday lunches, register online and get them for just $5 per day. They will be $7 per day if purchased at the door.

WHEN: February 6-8
WHERE: Events take place at two venues: Orpheum Arts Space, 500 2nd St SW (near 2nd and Coal) and Lloyd Shaw Dance Center, 5506 Coal Ave SE (near Central and San Mateo)
