Half the Sky: Free Screening and Talk
A free screening at The KiMo Theatre of a PBS production on September 26, 2012, followed by a discussion on women’s issues in New Mexico.
A special free screening of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide takes place at The KiMo Theatre on Wednesday September 26, starting at 7 pm. The event is courtesy of New Mexico PBS, showing a 40-minute segment of their forthcoming series which follows celebrity activists America Ferrera, Diane Lane, Eva Mendes, Meg Ryan, Gabrielle Union, and Oliva Wilde. They travel the world to tell the the stories of inspiring individuals working for health care, education, and economic empowerment for women and girls.
The screening is followed by a discussion on women’s issues in New Mexico.
General admission is free and the event is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Although the film doesn’t start till 7 pm, it may be wise to arrive early. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
The full series will be broadcast on New Mexico PBS over two nights: October 1 and 2 at 8 pm.
