Bataan: A 70th Anniversary Commemoration at The KiMo
A free program at The KiMo Theatre on May 24, 2012.
We’ve been talking a lot about history-related events in the New Mexico Centennial year, and this is one very sad piece of history.
A special free screening of Bataan: A 70th Anniversary Commemoration takes place at The KiMo Theatre on Thursday May 24, starting at 7 pm. The event is courtesy of New Mexico PBS, in honor of the 70th anniversary of the fall of the Philippines during World War II.
The evening includes the screening of The Tragedy of Bataan 30-minute documentary, narrated by Alec Baldwin and reporting the story of the Bataan Death March. The program is introduced by Senator Tom Udall, and includes interviews with two Bataan survivors: Pedro ‘Pete’ Gonzales and William Overmier.
General admission is free and the event is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. They could have a packed house for this, so arrive early. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
The KiMo Theatre is located at 423 Central Avenue NW.
