Albuquerque Concert Band Free Concerts and Stories Too!

The Albuquerque Concert Band has been entertaining Albuquerque for more than 40 years, and I so love this band and the music they play! I also love the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum and the Stories in the Sky series. Put the two together and you’ve got a recipe for some pretty delicious evenings. Especially when they’re free! So here’s the heads-up to save the dates.

This summer’s series of Albuquerque Concert Band free concerts will all be held at the Balloon Museum. They’re combining the concerts with Stories in the Night Sky – I’ve told you about that fun storytelling program before, so if you haven’t got out to enjoy it yet, here’s your chance to do a double whammy. Stories in the Night Sky will feature special guests on these evenings, geared to all ages, so although the kids will love it, the adults should love it too. You’re also welcome to take a picnic to enjoy on the lawn. (Welcome? You couldn’t stop me!)

The Stories in the Night Sky segment will run from 6 – 7 pm. The Albuquerque Concert Band concerts will run from 7 – 8 pm.

Of course, you can also go just for the concert or just for the stories.  It’s all free so what the heck?

These are the dates for summer 2012, they’re all on Wednesdays:

  • June 13
  • June 27
  • July 11
  • July 25
  • August 8

The band usually plays a variety of music from big band classics to Scottish dances and rousing symphonic marches, and no doubt people will be having a dance, so don’t be shy to strut your stuff.

Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is located at 9201 Balloon Museum NE.
