Book Coupon Page OneAs a writer and avid reader I’m always keen to support Albuquerque’s locally-owned independent bookstores, and to support any initiatives to help people read more. Especially when we save money too!

Print out this Page One coupon to save $5 on any $30 purchase until July 31, 2012, whether it’s a new or used item.  It could come in handy if you’re shopping for yourself, or if you’re looking for a gift for someone.

For ABQ on the Cheap readers with a smart phone or other internet enabled doohickey, you don’t even have to use the Page One printable coupon. Just show it on your “web capable mobile device” to the cashier to get the $5 discount.

Page One has started a Self-Published and Local Albuquerque Author Fair on the first Saturday of each month from 3 pm to 5 pm, with local authors selling their books, so that’s a good oppportunity to turn up and learn more about some Albuquerque writers.

This Saturday July 7, Kane S. Latranz, author of Waking From the American Dream: 10-Mile, and contributor to the Alibi, Philosophy Now and Weird Tales, will be presenting his artwork and reading from his memoir at 2pm, and then participating in the Author Fair from 3 pm.

Page One is also running an Adobe Walls Open Mic Night & Poetry Reading on the second Tuesday evening of each month, starting at 7 pm (sign up for the open mic from 6:45 pm). The event is (of course) free, and on Tuesday July 10, the 30-minute open mic hosted by Kenneth P. Gurney is followed by a poetry reading from Sal Treppiedi.

Page One Bookstore is located at 11018 Montgomery NE
